Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician – All Around to support a fast-paced manufacturing operation in Union City. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems, preventive maintenance, industrial controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, and packaging equipment .

The Maintenance Technician will work independently while collaborating with production and maintenance teams to quickly identify equipment issues, perform repairs, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on advanced production and manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Analyze equipment breakdowns and identify the root cause of failures.
• Diagnose electrical problems involving starters, fuses, contacts, relays, motors, and controls.
• Troubleshoot and work with VFDs/frequency drives and other electrical components.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Perform equipment upgrades and assist with installation of new technology and production equipment.
• Support production line changeovers according to established procedures.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, airveyors, motors, sensors, cylinders, diverters, and speed controls.
• Troubleshoot pumps, valves, seals, bearings, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, and other mechanical components.
• Work with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial electronic systems.
• Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and completed work.
• Complete daily work reports and preventive maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work area.
• Follow all GMP, SOP, safety, quality, and audit requirements .
• Support compliance with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards.
• Work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple maintenance priorities.
• Assist with continuous improvement projects and equipment reliability initiatives.

Required Experience & Technical Skills

Candidates should have hands-on experience with several of the following:

• Basic and advanced electrical systems
• Electrical installation and troubleshooting
• Motor controls and frequency drives/VFDs
• Electrical schematics and blueprints
• Mechanical troubleshooting and breakdown analysis
• Mechanical drawings
• Gearboxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, and bearings
• Conveyors and airveyors
• Sensors, diverters, motors, and speed controls
• Industrial electronics
• Level probes and flow meters
• Hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, and high-pressure systems
• Pneumatic systems, solenoids, cylinders, and motor brakes
• PLC-controlled equipment
• Preventive maintenance programs and computerized PM records
• Industrial pumps and pump components
• Servo motors, encoders, and motion-control systems
• High-speed production and packaging equipment

Preferred Experience

• Experience in food manufacturing or consumer products manufacturing
• Experience working with high-speed packaging equipment
• Experience with multihead weighers , such as Ishida or Yamato
• Experience with VFFS packaging machines , such as Triangle, Pacmac, or Bosch
• Experience operating and maintaining steam/water boilers
• Knowledge of water treatment, feedwater systems, controls, safety systems, and boiler maintenance
• Experience working in a team-based manufacturing environment

Work Environment

This is a hands-on manufacturing maintenance position. Employees may work throughout the production facility, maintenance shop, and surrounding outdoor areas.

The environment may include exposure to:

• Manufacturing machinery
• Dust, fumes, odors, and sparks
• Industrial noise
• Heat and cold
• Varying temperatures and humidity
• Manufacturing materials and chemicals

Proper PPE and safety procedures are required .

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to:

• Lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials.
• Handle objects weighing up to and over 100 lbs. with appropriate assistance or equipment.
• Climb, crawl, kneel, squat, bend, and reach overhead.
• Work on, underneath, inside, and around production machinery.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and maintenance equipment.
• Push and pull equipment or materials.
• Perform repetitive hand movements and safely handle tools and components.
