Overview Description This position qualifies for UNC Health Johnston RN Incentive Program. Incentives vary by degree and commitment length: BSN or higher eligible for up to $20,000 (4-year commitment) or $15,000 (3-year commitment), or up to $25,000 in tuition loan forgiveness. ADN eligible for up to $16,000 (4-year), $12,000 (3-year), or up to $25,000 in tuition loan forgiveness. In addition, relocation assistance up to $4,500 may be available (based on location). Summary Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reports to the Nurse Manager/Director. The Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting. Behavioral Health Department UNC Health Johnston offers a continuum of behavioral health services. The Behavioral Health Holding area in the Emergency Department provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management and stabilization. The Behavioral Health Triage process ensures timely assessments and coordination with inpatient psychiatric services. The Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit delivers treatment through therapy, education, and personalized care planning to support discharge with ongoing follow-up. Responsibilities Education - Identify and meet learning needs of self; participate in education programs; use patient education materials as appropriate; assess readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers; assess developmental level and factors affecting learning. Evaluation of Care - Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance as needed in revising the plan of care; participate in interdisciplinary discussions to evaluate patient care; communicate information to promote continuity of care. Implementation - Demonstrate competence in care for patients with complex problems; perform bedside point-of-care testing as required; follow organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult resources for complex issues or high-risk discharge planning. Leadership - Develop goals for professional growth; achieve or renegotiate goals within time frame; promote intra/interdepartmental collaboration; contribute to unit goals and performance improvement; use communication systems effectively; promote cost-effective care; give feedback to co-workers; understand public policy and regulatory guidelines; maintain a safe, clean hospital environment. Patient Assessment - Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities; assess physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs; synthesize data before communicating; assess discharge needs and build family relationships to support advocacy. Planning - Collaborate with patient/family to plan or update the plan of care; use multidisciplinary resources; communicate planning across the care team; address cultural and ethnic issues; prioritize tasks for complex cases. Research - Read journals for applicable studies; share ideas and questions with staff for applicability assessment. Other Information Education Requirements: Graduation from a school of professional nursing. Licensure/Certification Requirements: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
