Job Description
Join a dynamic team at a family-owned metal recycling company as a Forklift Operator. You will play a crucial role in both indoor and outdoor settings, with an emphasis on operating within enclosed and heated equipment cabs. Your primary responsibilities include unloading tracks, assisting customers with material placement, and moving materials to designated storage areas using a forklift. You will also operate a compactor to prepare materials for transport.
Responsibilities

• Unload tracks as they arrive at the facility.
• Assist customers by directing them to appropriate material drop-off locations.
• Move materials from drop-off points to designated storage areas using a forklift.
• Operate a compactor to prepare materials for transport.
• Communicate effectively with customers in the yard regarding material handling.
• Ensure safe and efficient material handling practices.

Essential Skills

• 1+ year of experience in forklift or equipment operation, with 80% of the role focused on forklift operations.
• Strong communication skills for customer interaction.
• Demonstrated strong work history, with experience in no more than two jobs over the past five years.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs individually and 50 lbs with team assistance.
• Customer service orientation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in equipment operation.
• Previous experience in outdoor or yard work.

Work Environment
Work in a metal recycling facility where the majority of tasks occur outdoors in the yard or within various outbuildings. The equipment cabs are enclosed and heated to ensure comfort while working in the elements. Core working hours are from 7am to 3:30pm, with the yard open from 5am to 5pm, offering some flexibility. Optional overtime is available, and flexible arrangements are possible for personal commitments, provided there is communication.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $52000.00/yr.
