Imagine catching a subtle clearance issue on a rotor assembly before it reaches final test—or flagging a pressure vessel weld indication that prevents a costly rework. As a Mechanical QA Inspector, your vigilance ensures every raw material, part, and assembly achieves the standard our customers expect.

The mission

Validate conformance of materials and assemblies against drawings, specifications, and documented requirements. You will rotate through Heavy Machining, Fabrication, Pressure Vessel Welding, Rotor/Motor Shop, EP AT Speed Balance, and SVP Quick Action & SVP Kit Box, stepping in wherever quality needs a champion.

How you’ll execute

• Study work orders, assembly/detail drawings, quality plans, process/material specs, SPIs, BOMs, POs, and shipping papers to plan inspections.
• Choose and set up gages, fixtures, and CMM routines; perform first-piece, sampling/patrol, 100%, and final verifications.
• Measure dimensions, confirm form/fit/function, and check alignment/clearances ; conduct leak tests when called out.
• Log inspection data and maintain required records in manual or electronic systems for analysis.
• Document nonconformances (NCRs) with clear descriptions and sketches; coordinate control and salvage procedures with other departments and supervision.
• Escalate any process or instruction irregularities beyond the standard procedures.
• Host customer witnesses during inspections and test/document reviews.
• Perform related operations— disassembly/assembly, stamping, grinding, and cleaning—tied to inspection steps.
• Verify that packaging, crating, and loading are suitable for shipment.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely.
• Conduct directed, non-certified nondestructive examinations (dye penetrant and magnetic particle).
• Keep work areas organized; protect tools and materials; follow all plant and safety rules; wear a portable communication device if required.

Your toolkit

• Visual/vision, mechanical, electrical, and functional inspection methods
• Coordinate Measuring Machines and related software (e.g., Zeiss, Faro)
• Calipers, micrometers, and precision gauges
• Simple ultrasonic inspection devices, cameras, and computers used for inspection workflows

Materials you’ll verify

• Raw materials and purchased components
• Fabrications, castings, and both partially and fully machined parts
• Sub-assemblies and completed assemblies

Baseline qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Flexibility to work 1st (7am–3pm), 2nd (3pm–11pm), and 3rd (11pm–7am) shifts; shifts may be realigned.
• Availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays.
