Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of roadside tolling and intelligent transportation system equipment throughout the Austin, Texas area. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities to ensure optimal system performance and reliability. The position includes participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule and requires working outdoors in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of: Linux and Windows-based computers and servers Video cameras, lighting systems, and image collection equipment RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) readers and related hardware Vehicle detection systems including inductive loops, treadles, optical separators, and other roadway sensors Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure Communications and field equipment supporting transportation systems System Monitoring & Performance Monitor system performance both remotely and onsite. Diagnose and resolve equipment and system issues. Ensure equipment operates within established performance specifications. Perform system optimization and preventative maintenance activities. Document maintenance activities and service records accurately. Service & Support Respond to service requests and equipment failures in a timely manner. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours support. Complete routine inspections and preventive maintenance programs. Support operational objectives and customer service requirements. Maintain compliance with all safety procedures and company policies. Qualifications Education & Experience Degree, diploma, certification, or formal training in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Computer Systems, Networking, or a related field preferred. Military training in electronics, communications, avionics, or related technical disciplines is highly valued. Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and hands‑on experience will be considered. Preferred Technical Experience Experience working with one or more of the following: Toll collection or intelligent transportation systems Military electronics, avionics, communications, or radar systems PC and server maintenance RFID systems and equipment Security, surveillance, and video monitoring systems Networking and communications equipment Field service or roadside maintenance environments Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and inclement weather. Ability to work at heights up to 40 feet using bucket trucks, ladders, lifts, or similar equipment. Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment as required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to successfully pass background screening and motor vehicle record checks. OSHA certifications or the ability to obtain required certifications may be required.
