Overview Family Health Centers of San Diego’s (FHCSD) mission is to provide caring, affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low-income and medically underserved persons. FHCSD provides care to all and offers a broad range of services including adult care, chronic disease management, pediatrics, comprehensive women’s care including obstetrics, dental, vision, case management, physical rehabilitation, speech therapy for children, vaccinations, infectious diseases, behavioral health, substance use counseling and various specialty services. We also offer supportive services to those who are unsheltered and in need of intensive case management. FHCSD is the largest community clinic provider of health care to the uninsured in the county and one of the top 10 largest community clinic organizations in the nation. We are also the largest health care safety-net provider, largest school-based health care provider and the largest mental health provider in the San Diego region. Position Associate Director, Specialty Operations — to provide operational management of the department. Responsibilities Build positive relationships, inspire others to perform at a higher level, prepare career development plans and retain an accountable workforce. Coach and counsel staff and administer appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner. Recruit, train, develop, engage and retain an accountable workforce. Provide and ensure staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time. Build and maintain community linkages and support for assigned programs and services. Develop departmental strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction in developing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives. Ensure applicable regulatory and department standards are met or exceeded and adhered to on an ongoing basis (JCAHO, OSHA, Safety Standards, etc.). Assist with development, implementation and achievement of short-term and long-term goals in collaboration with management and leadership. Facilitate resolutions of complaints using AIDET and FHCSD Standards of Conduct. May serve as patient grievance liaison and handle patient concerns in a positive manner. Ensure all programmatic audits, reporting, and expenditures of assigned grant funds and/or programs are met. Participate in continuous improvement activities and ensure Lean tools (e.g., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured. Oversee projects and process improvements, ensuring on-time and on-budget implementation of process improvement strategies. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. 2 years of supervisory experience required. 3 years of progressively responsible program management experience in health care, preferably in an outpatient medical clinic environment required. Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job. Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law (limits of $100,000 recommended). An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency.
