CRED Culinary Arts Program Aide

Program: CRED NYC Department: Young Adult Services – Queens Community House (QCH) Location: Forest Hills, NY Employment Type: Part Time – 25 Hours a week Salary: $25 an hour

The Program Aide supports the daily operations of the CRED Workforce Development Program by providing administrative and instructional support for the Culinary Arts Training Class. This position plays a key role in maintaining participant engagement, supporting program compliance, and ensuring successful day-to-day operations.

Working closely with the Program Director, instructors, social worker, case managers, and job developer, the Program Aide helps ensure training classes operate efficiently while providing participants with classroom management, administrative assistance, and individualized support for certification attainment support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Administration

• Receive, inspect, and organize program deliveries, including food, classroom supplies, and training materials.
• Coordinate food ordering for the Culinary Training Program under the direction of the Chef Instructor and Program Director.
• Verify food deliveries for accuracy and quality and ensure proper storage in accordance with the Department of Health standards.
• Monitor inventory levels of culinary supplies, classroom materials, technology equipment, and instructional resources.
• Assist with inventory management and communicate purchasing needs to program leadership.
• Support program events, orientations, workshops, certification testing, employer events, graduations, and recruitment activities.
• Assist with attendance tracking, credential tracking, internship documentation, and participant progress reports.
• Support data entry and reporting within DYCD systems and other required databases.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and program planning sessions.
• Perform additional administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Instructional & Classroom Support

• Assist instructors during Information Culinary Arts training classes.
• Prepare classrooms and kitchen spaces before each training session.
• Set up instructional materials, make copies, take attendance, equipment, computers, culinary supplies, and classroom resources.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support to participants during classroom instruction.
• Assist with classroom management and participant engagement throughout each training session.

Participant Support

• Serve as a mentor and resource for participants throughout the training program. Enter notes in Salesforce as a participant check-in when substances conversation is over 10 -15minutes.
• Contact participants regarding attendance, homework, required documentation, upcoming classes, certifications, and internship requirements.
• Encourage attendance, professionalism, accountability, and successful completion of program milestones.
• Communicate with participants about concerns or barriers to instructors and program leadership.

Compliance & Safety

• Support compliance with Queens Community House policies and procedures.
• Follow and reinforce Department of Health food safety standards during culinary programming.
• Assist instructors in maintaining safe, organized, and professional training environments.
• Help ensure classrooms, kitchens, and training spaces are properly cleaned, secured, and prepared for the following day's instruction.
• Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) established for the culinary training kitchen and assist with maintaining compliance.
• Assist with the transition of the culinary kitchen back to daytime operations by communicating inventory needs, maintenance concerns, and operational updates to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent professional experience in Culinary Arts, Workforce Development, Education, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Experience working in education, workforce development, training, or community-based programming preferred.
• Experience providing tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or instructional support.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic database management.
• Ability to lift and move classroom equipment, food deliveries, and program supplies.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with one or more of the following certifications or equivalent experience are strongly preferred:

• ServSafe Food Protection Manager
• New York State Food Handler Certificate
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification

Equivalent industry or instructional experience in these subject areas will also be considered.
