Food Service WorkerClassification: Support Personnel Pay ScaleRange: IDescription: The job of Food Service Worker is responsible for the cleanliness of the cafeteria and kitchen areas. Duties include wiping tables and chairs/benches, sweeping/mopping the cafeteria floor, and emptying the trash barrels as needed. He/she washes and sanitizes pans, utensils and equipment used for food preparation, serving, and food consumption. The food Service Worker may assist the Cafeteria Manager in taking inventory of food, supplies and materials. Essential duties and responsibilities also apply when meal area(s) occur in a designated locale outside the regular cafeteria eating area.Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredFood Handler's CardValid Fingerprint Clearance CardCPR and First Aid Certificate is desiredKnowledge and use of commercial equipment; such as, dishwasher, ovens, cleaning equipment, etc.Knowledge of the English languageMust be able to walk, bend, reach, kneel, etc. and lift and/or carry up to 50 poundsAbility to comprehend and perform functions from oral and written instructionsStrong communication and interpersonal skills when working/dealing with othersMust be an energetic, highly ethical and possess good emotional and physical healthBilingual is desiredEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Wipe tables, chairs/benches during and after meal service timesSweep and/or mop cafeteria floor during and after meal service timesWash (by hand or use commercial dishwasher) and sanitize utensils, pans, equipment, etc., used for food preparation and serving, and all tableware used by students/adults for food consumptionClean and sanitize food preparation work surfaces and food serving areas dailyClean food storage areas, refrigerator/freezers, and exhaust hood and filters vents as directedIf applicable, set up and maintain a serving area(s) in the cafeteria for dispensing napkins, utensils, condiments, etc. for student/adult useAssist with monthly and yearly food inventories as neededAssist with receiving and stocking food, paper products, and other supplies and materialsAssist with special events and education activities as requestedParticipate in district sponsored professional development workshops/inservices, attend on-going training classes as directed, and read professional publications for continued professional developmentMaintain strict confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when working with all district personnel records and/or informationSupport and follow the rules, regulations and policies set by the School Board, the assigned school and the DistrictPerforms all other duties as assigned by the Governing School Board or the Food Services ManagerLength of Employment:Nine (9) monthsSchool calendar will determine the days worked during the school yearReports to: Coordinator of Culinary OperationsEvaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy GDO
