Speech Pathologist The Speech Pathologist functions under the direction of the Chief Speech Pathologist to provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric through geriatric patients within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. This role requires advanced clinical expertise to assess and manage augmentative and alternative communication needs, developmental and acquired speech and language disorders, cognitive-communication impairments, fluency and voice disorders, and swallowing disorders, including aphasia, apraxia, and dysarthria. The Speech Pathologist practices with a high level of autonomy while providing education and consultation to physicians, therapists, educational specialists, and community providers, coordinating care with referring clinicians, and managing insurance authorization requirements to support timely, effective patient care. Minimum Qualifications: California Licensed Speech Pathologist Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR Experience in a medical setting Completion of Clinical Fellowship year Must maintain professional growth and CEUs as required for licensing and CCCs Must renew licenses and certificates annually Key Responsibilities: Perform various evaluative, diagnostic and procedures for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, acute care, ICU, pediatric, and outpatients. Contribute to the functioning of the Speech Pathology section. Maintain accurate and timely patient records and process necessary billing forms. Participates in instructional activities in order to maintain and improve professional skills and knowledge.
