We are seeking an experienced Houseman/Caretaker/Handyman to support the day-to-day operation of a private residence in Princeton, NJ. This is a hands-on opportunity for a proactive, service-oriented professional who takes pride in keeping a home running smoothly and maintained to a high standard.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and collaborative, with a strong sense of ownership over routine property care and maintenance. In this role, you will partner with the Housekeeper on daily cleaning tasks, monitor household systems and equipment, assist with outdoor upkeep, run errands, and help ensure the home remains comfortable, functional, and well cared for at all times.

This position is best suited to someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and takes genuine pride in maintaining high standards in a beautiful home.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily upkeep and overall readiness of the residence.
• Handle routine property maintenance, including checking garage door clickers, lightbulbs, air filters, batteries, and other household essentials.
• Perform daily checks of A/V systems, AC units, pool, and other key home systems to ensure everything is functioning properly and address issues proactively.
• Take a hands-on approach to exterior and general upkeep, including power washing, sweeping, snow blowing, and maintaining neat, guest-ready outdoor spaces.
• Coordinate vendors and service providers as needed, and report maintenance issues to the Family Office promptly.
• Maintain, fuel, and clean vehicles.
• Work with the vendors to ensure landscaping maintenance is pristine.
• Work closely with the Housekeepers and share Housekeeping responsibilities.
• Run errands and assist with day-to-day household support, including supply runs, pickups, and other practical needs.
• Help ensure the home is safe, functional, and comfortable.
• Assist with additional hands-on tasks and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Houseman, Handyman, Property Caretaker, or in a similarly hands-on private service or facilities role. Luxury hospitality experience is valued.
• Excellent verifiable references.
• Strong practical skills with routine maintenance, preventative checks, and troubleshooting household systems. A background in or understanding of the trades is appreciated.
• Hands-on, resourceful, and happy to assist with maintenance and cleaning tasks and household errands.
• High Emotional Intelligence.
• Reliable, discreet, and self-directed, with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
• Physically capable of handling active, outdoor, and manual tasks throughout the day.
• Flexible and responsive, with a service-oriented attitude and willingness to help where needed.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable with both smart home systems and common computer programs (MS Suite, Google Suite, Excel). This role requires weekly reporting to the Director of Residences.
• Valid driver's license and confidence driving locally and possibly to New York City

Schedule

• Generally, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility
• This role requires responsiveness to issues that occur after hours, on weekends, or holidays.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of $125,000 to $150,000 commensurate with experience
• Medical, dental, vision insurance covered 100% by the employer
