About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM 3 × 12 hr shifts Hours per Shift: 12 hrs Experience: Minimum of 18 months in specialty within the past 3 years License: GA or compact license in hand Certifications: CCRN preferred Must-Have: - Requires PA lines - Experience with presurgical patients - No local travelers allowed Description: This position is for a step-down unit providing moderate care. The unit will accommodate LVADs, 2-4 drips, arterial lines, and PA catheters. Patients will be a mix of low-acuity critical care patients awaiting placement in higher-level care. No ventilators or CRRT will be accepted in this unit. The unit also serves as an observation area for patients requiring extended monitoring after same-day procedures. This fast-paced environment features high patient turnover and a variety of diagnoses. It offers an excellent opportunity to enhance critical care skills and fine-tune assessment abilities. Additional requirements include passing a rhythm identification test upon starting the assignment. Candidates will have two attempts to pass the test, which is not multiple choice. The position provides a valuable learning experience in cardiovascular procedures and diagnoses.
