Tax Attorney

The ideal candidate is an experienced attorney with law firm or comparable private- sector experience who can advise clients on sophisticated tax, business planning , and transactional matters. The candidate should bring the judgment, technical depth, and client-facing confidence needed to work closely with sophisticated clients and established business law partners in a highly active Mid-Atlantic practice. LL.M in Taxation or Certified Public Accounting designation strongly preferred. Ten or more years of experience in corporate and partnership tax matters, and business/commercial transactions, including complex mergers and acquisitions. Experience structuring and negotiating a variety of transaction types, with a strong understanding of the tax implications associated with each. Experience with private equity acquisitions, and employee and investor equity arrangements is preferred. Excellent drafting skills, particularly with respect to correspondence, purchase agreements, ancillary transaction documents, and related client communications. Strong client relationship management skills, including the ability to communicate clearly, exercise sound judgment, and manage matters with appropriate independence. A team-oriented, highly motivated professional with a demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and high-quality work. Portable practice is preferred, but not required. Must be a member of the Maryland Bar; admission in Virginia, Delaware, D.C., or other Mid-Atlantic jurisdictions is a plus. The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $250,000, depending on experience, qualifications, demonstrated transactional / M&A experience, client relationship capabilities, and portable business.
