Engineering Director

The client is seeking an Engineering Director to lead, oversee, and provide functional authority for engineering design and commissioning project activities, including operation, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion. This direct-hire role is hybrid, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a mix of onsite and remote work. Key responsibilities include leading engineering projects to ensure timely and efficient completion of design and commissioning activities; managing a team of project managers, engineers, commissioning agents, and technicians; delegating work based on expertise and project needs; and reviewing and approving engineering designs, specifications, and commissioning standards for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. The role also involves maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors, supporting business development through project success, and developing and managing project schedules, budgets, and resources to meet client and company objectives. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or an acceptable alternative such as engineering technology or construction management). Candidates must have either at least five years of experience as a project manager or at least 15 years of industry project management experience, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project. A professional engineering license is preferred, along with strong presentation and communication skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to travel to job sites (approximately 30% of work time) and perform physical site visits, including walking and climbing stairs.
