Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Mid Shifts (12-hour shifts; midshift start times at 9, 11, 1, or 3) | Every other weekend required | Holidays worked into rotation with permanent staff | Expected 36–48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Level III Trauma, STEMI, and Stroke Receiving emergency department averaging approximately 70 patients per day
• Manage a patient assignment of 1:3–4 depending on acuity, including care for ER holds intermixed within the department
• Perform and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently; no monitor techs on unit — RNs are required to read and interpret their own rhythm strips
• Administer and monitor common ER drips including pressors and sedation; troubleshoot respiratory equipment (nasal cannula through ventilators) in collaboration with on-site Respiratory Therapy
• Staff triage and Fast Track areas as needed; may be asked to precept staff as directed by unit leadership
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (minimum score 83%) prior to contract start — three attempts permitted

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• Epic EMR experience required — position is supporting an Epic conversion
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within the CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity Health system within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms may be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pediatric emergency patients; this facility is the only area hospital that admits pediatric patients
• Familiarity with STEMI and stroke protocols in an emergency setting
• Experience managing psychiatric patients in an ED environment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
