Job Description

The Order Picker plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment for a healthcare-focused distribution operation. In this role, you pick products using either a Voxware voice-picking system with headset and handheld scanner or traditional pick sheets, move items using carts and totes, and deliver completed orders to the packing area. You regularly handle items with varying quantities per line and must maintain strong attention to detail to ensure the correct products reach hospital customers. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift and to walk 5–10 miles per shift in a clean, well-organized, climate-controlled warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Use the Voxware voice-picking system with headset and handheld device/scanner to receive, pick, and complete orders, following system prompts and confirming completion of each order.
• Pick orders accurately using either the voice-picking system or printed pick sheets, ensuring each item and quantity matches the order requirements.
• Handle carts and totes to collect and transport items throughout the warehouse, maintaining organization of picked products.
• Deliver completed orders to the pack-out area and ensure all items for each order are properly staged for packaging and shipment.
• Lift and move boxes and products weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift while maintaining safe lifting techniques.
• Walk between 5 and 10 miles per shift as part of regular picking and material handling activities in the warehouse.
• Follow established delivery timelines and maintain a strong sense of urgency to meet time-sensitive hospital delivery schedules.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to avoid sending incorrect items or quantities to hospital customers.
• Complete training over a 1–2 week period and apply learned processes, systems, and safety practices consistently.
• Collaborate with supervisors to receive new orders after completing current assignments and communicate any issues or discrepancies promptly.
• Support general warehouse functions such as order picking, packaging, loading, unloading, inventory control, warehouse inventory, and cycle counts as needed.
• Operate or work around warehouse equipment such as sit-down and stand-up forklifts and RF scanners where applicable and if trained and authorized.
• Adhere to all warehouse policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including proper use of equipment and awareness of surroundings.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and job tenure, contributing to a stable and consistent team environment.
• Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor in a relaxed, community-oriented culture while ensuring all work is completed effectively and on time.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift safely and repeatedly.
• Capability to walk 5–10 miles per shift in a warehouse environment.
• Previous warehouse experience, ideally 3 years, with a focus on order picking or material handling.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure correct items and quantities are sent to hospital customers.
• Reliable attendance and a history of stable job tenure, demonstrating commitment and responsibility.
• Sense of urgency and ability to work within strict delivery timelines.
• Willingness and ability to learn new systems and processes, including voice-picking technology.
• Comfort using warehouse technology such as Voxware voice-picking systems, headsets, handheld scanners, RF scanners, and related equipment.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions via headset and translate them into accurate picking actions.
• Basic understanding of warehouse operations including inventory control, cycle counts, loading, unloading, and packaging.
• Ability to work 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), including some overtime when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with order picking, order selection, and packing in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Experience in warehouse inventory management, inventory control, and performing cycle counts.
• Familiarity with sit-down and stand-up forklifts, with the ability to operate them if trained and authorized.
• Experience using RF scanners for tracking and verifying inventory and orders.
• Comfort working with carts, totes, and other material handling equipment.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team of approximately 22 employees, including supervisors.
• Strong sense of responsibility and professionalism in a healthcare-related supply chain environment.
• Adaptability to a relaxed yet performance-driven culture where meeting expectations and delivery times is essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensboro, NC.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
