Authorization Specialist

Job TitleResponsible for obtaining and tracking authorization for all patients for whom their insurance requires pre-authorization, and ensuring the agency has the authorization required to bill for services provided.ResponsibilitiesAnswer telephones and provide excellent customer service to our professional staff and insurance representativesRun and utilize computer reports regularlyObserve confidentiality and safeguard all patient related informationProvide accurate, complete updates to Agency management on status of authorizations for all patients requiring treatment authorizationEnsures authorization is obtained and tracked for all patients whose insurance requires pre-authorizationIs responsible for seeing that objectives are implemented, follows, and promotes agency policies and proceduresEnsure all authorization requests are documented clearlyParticipate in the orientation and education of other employees as relates to Authorization departmentObserves confidentiality and safeguard all patient related informationNotifies Supervisor of problems in a timely manner and works to help provide solutionsCompletes ongoing education requirements and demonstrates ongoing competency in required areasOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school graduate or GEDMinimum of one year of experience in Health Care billing and/or authorization practicesGeneral knowledge of the framework, organization, and function of home careSound knowledge of health care operations and third-party reimbursementProficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer) with the ability to learn industry specific software applicationsSolid organizational skills, thoroughness, and a keen attention to detail with the ability to multi-task while prioritizing effectivelyAbility to work independently and in a team environmentExcellent, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsProfessional appearance and demeanorAbout Our Line of BusinessSpringHealth Behavioral Health and Integrated Care, an affiliate of BrightSpring Health Services, offers a holistic approach and integrated care for people with cognitive, developmental, or intellectual disabilities who often need additional resources.
