Job Summary

Provides quality care that is dependent on physician orders or independent nursing interventions based on professional judgment in response to individualized patient needs. Promotes restorative health and supportive care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current RN license by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand verbal and written communication.
• CPR Certification.
• ACLS Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience as an RN in a clinical or medical-surgical setting preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Establish a plan of care for each patient and address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
• Promote patient engagement by considering specific needs, values, and preferences.
• Establish care goals and provide patient and family education.
• Accurately document assessments and nursing care in the medical record.

• Promote continuity of care through effective communication and handoff reporting.
• Adhere to safe medication administration practices.
• Recognize safety risks and implement prevention plans.
• Contribute to department performance improvement activities.
• Demonstrate competency in clinic and infusion-related skills.
• Maintain knowledge of medications administered in the infusion center.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Adhere to the scope of RN practice as outlined by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge and pursue professional growth opportunities.
• Serve as a positive role model and preceptor for new staff and students.
• Maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
• Appropriately seek guidance from supervisors and resources.
• Adapt to change and prioritize workload effectively.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Support department staffing needs when necessary.
• Promote a safe, compassionate, and team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements

• Body system assessment competency.

• Therapeutic phlebotomy skills.
• Ability to establish IV and mediport access.
• Ability to safely administer blood products and medications.
• Preventive skin care knowledge and application.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and computer use.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and more than 50 pounds with assistance.
• Exposure to fluids, hazardous materials, and high-risk healthcare environments.
• Classification: High Exposure Risk.
