Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

Controls and adjusts machine settings for AutoPak equipmentResponsibilities include production, quality, downtime and waste levels of machine operation. Perform mechanical, pneumatic and electrical maintenance (including preventive) repairs, adjustments, inspection and monitoring of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery.Works within standards and operating procedures to plan, perform, and make decisions regarding the set up and operations of a variety of production equipment, including automated machine processes and controls to perform routine assembly-line production functions of filling, packing, assembling, labeling and inspectingIndependently run multiple lines including setting up and managing change oversProvides operator support all across the assigned business operation. Must have the capability and flexibility to provide support where is needed.May perform clean up functions in sterilized areas and evaluate charts, follows simple diagrams, testing, and inspecting proceduresConducts root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptionsMay monitor quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.Ensures accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety, and maintenance documents. Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with the machine performance and/or product quality.Works with general supervision.Works with external contractors and vendor as neededDemonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and proceduresMust follow all BD safety policies and proceduresMust be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirementsPerforms other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED & Certificate and 2 years of experience in relevant fieldHigh School Diploma or GED with 4 years relevant experience requiredRelevant Fields: Electrical / Electronics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Industrial Programmer, Electrician, Machine Builder / Repairer, Machinist, Refrigeration Mechanic, Welding RepairerKnowledge/Basic Skills:Time management skills required to ensure all tasks are completed without delayStrong interpersonal and communication skills required to work with various teamsMechanical, pneumatic and electrical skills, must analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and machinery.Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematicsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications.Flexible and adaptable in working with/on a variety of equipment, processes, projects or assignments.Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments essential.Constant mental and visual attention performing moderately complex work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances.Must be knowledgeable in the following areasUse of a PC including MS Excel & MSWord.Demonstrate mechanical aptitudeDemonstrate electrical aptitudeDemonstrate hydraulics, pneumatics aptitudeAbility to use multimeterSensor technologyBasic plumbing (fluid and pneumatic)Power transmission (gear box, motors, belt and chain drives)-Basic machiningElectrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC.Additional experience PREFERRED:Troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, vfd, servo etc.)Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems.Mechanical design (AutoCad, Solidworks, etc.)SAP maintenance module or equivalent computerized system (welding)Basic skills in use of mill, lathe, welding, bearing pressAt BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
