About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; PALS preferred Must-Have: Candidates must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies. Candidates must have 2-3 years in specialty. Previous travel experience preferred. Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite. This is a PASS/FAIL test. Holiday requests will be considered; however, they cannot be guaranteed. The unit specializes in ICU and Trauma ICU care. The unit has 30 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are typically 1 to 1-2. 90% of the time, the ratio will be 1 to 2. Candidates are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and sedation. Common diagnoses include trauma, neuro-strokes, head injuries, and post-TPA patients. Candidates must be able to interpret telemetry strips. There is a charge nurse on duty 24/7, who does not take patient assignments. A house supervisor is also available 24/7. Respiratory therapy is provided in the ICU around the clock. There is one unit tech for all 30 beds, primarily for secretarial work. Self-scheduling is not finalized until the manager reviews it, and schedules are created six weeks in advance. Travelers are the first to be moved if needed. Floating requirements may include any of the Progressive Care Unit and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Scrub color is navy. Additional orientation will be provided if necessary. Candidates must be prepared to work hard in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be open to asking questions or seeking help when needed. Candidates must be able to work well with others. Cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment. The charting system used is Cerner. Candidates must have a COVID vaccination. NIHSS certification is required.
