Our world-class training will prepare you for the job! What is a Direct Support Technician? A Direct Support Technician performs a variety of tasks related to the care of clients served by Damar. What would I be doing? Some duties include client supervision and care, crisis management, promoting appropriate social behaviors, and supporting clients in achieving their maximum potential. Where would I work with clients? For this particular role, you could work on our Children's Residential campus located at 6067 Decatur Boulevard in Indianapolis or in one of our Adult Group Homes in the community. What are the hours? Day Shift (7:00 am - 7:30 pm w/ rotating weekends) Night Shift (7:00 pm - 7:30 am w/ rotating weekends) Weekend (7:00 am - 11:00 pm / Sat & Sun) *Can pick up an optional 8 hour shift Monday-Friday (* Preferred shift may not be available at time of application.) This includes the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.; operate office equipment, including a computer keyboard; travel to other locations using private or commercial transportation; and communicate effectively to exchange information. The position also requires the ability to recognize and respond appropriately to client behaviors, staff instructions, safety concerns, and emergencies in an environment where individuals may display aggressive, self-injurious, sexually maladaptive, elopement, or other unpredictable behaviors. Regular and acceptable attendance, excluding approved absences and periods of leave, is also an essential function of the position.
