Role Title: Technical Support Representative – Rotary-Wing Aviation

Permanent Location: Fort Rucker, Alabama, embedded with a confidential U.S. military flight training program

Reporting To: Site Manager

Initial Hybrid Location (First 6 Months): Southern California

Reporting To: VP, Customer Success

Travel: Permanent Assignment – Up to 25%, as required / First 6 Months – Up to 75%

Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 annually (Dependent on Experience and Qualifications)

Position Summary

A confidential aerospace company is seeking a  Technical Support Representative to serve as an on-site technical expert supporting a U.S. military flight training program in Alabama. This position will be embedded directly alongside the program's maintenance personnel to assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the rotary-wing fleet, providing hands-on troubleshooting, airworthiness guidance, and technical liaison support with internal Engineering and Product Support teams to keep aircraft safe, serviceable, and mission ready.

The ideal candidate is an experienced rotary-wing maintenance professional with strong helicopter maintenance knowledge, FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) credentials, and the ability to diagnose and assist maintenance personnel in resolving complex maintenance issues in a fast-paced flight training environment. This role will not have sign-off authority for the program fleet but will provide functional technical support, maintenance education, train-the-trainer activities, and appropriate assistance as needed.

Essential Job Functions

Maintenance & Technical Support

• Provide hands-on technical support to maintenance personnel for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of the program fleet.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose airframe, powerplant, and aircraft systems discrepancies to support return-to-service activities.
• Provide airworthiness and maintenance guidance in accordance with applicable OEM technical data, maintenance manuals, and regulations.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the Site Manager, Engineering, and Product Support teams.

Aircraft Availability & Mission Readiness

• Serve as the company's primary on-site technical point of contact for program maintenance.
• Support rapid resolution of Aircraft on Ground (AOG) and unscheduled maintenance events.
• Help ensure aircraft remain serviceable and available to meet flight training schedules.
• Support maintenance readiness reviews and fleet health assessments.

Technical Guidance & Continuous Improvement

• Advise on inspection findings, service bulletins, and mandatory maintenance actions.
• Recommend operational or maintenance changes that improve reliability, cost of operation, and safety.
• Coordinate with fleet sustainment and spare parts personnel regarding parts required to complete maintenance actions.
• Monitor recurring discrepancies and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Documentation & Reporting

• Ensure maintenance actions are accurately documented according to company and program requirements.
• Record technical incidents, resolutions, and corrective actions in applicable company systems.
• Prepare technical reports, status updates, and briefings for the Site Manager.
• Support configuration management, airworthiness records, and compliance requirements.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job mentoring to program maintenance personnel.
• Develop and deliver technical instruction, maintenance tips, and reference materials.
• Conduct technical demonstrations and workshops as needed.
• Support train-the-trainer activities and maintenance education initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Coordinate with Engineering, Product Support, Supply Chain, and the Site Manager.
• Participate in technical reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
• Support aircraft fielding, induction, and sustainment activities at the assigned program location.

Required Qualifications

• FAA Mechanic Certificate with  Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) ratings required .
• 10+ years of aircraft maintenance, technical support, or field service experience .
• Minimum of 5 years of rotary-wing/helicopter maintenance experience strongly preferred .
• Current or previous  Inspection Authorization (IA) , or foreign equivalent, preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, or a related field is a plus; equivalent experience and Technical College/Associate degrees may be considered.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot airframe, powerplant, and integrated aircraft systems.
• Experience supporting  Department of Defense, Federal Government, military aviation, or aerospace customers preferred.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, technical documentation, and airworthiness requirements.
• Ability to provide hands-on technical support within hangar and flight line environments.
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Atlassian Jira, and Adobe Acrobat software suites.
• Strong organization and technical risk management capabilities.
• Ability to work on-site in Alabama, including hangar and flight line environments.
• Work hours are assigned based on business needs Monday through Friday; occasional weekend work may be required based on maintenance and operational demand.
• Ability to travel as required.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must possess a current passport.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive rotary-wing maintenance experience.
• Previous field service or technical representative experience supporting aircraft fleets.
• Experience working directly with military aviation maintenance teams.
• Experience supporting high-tempo flight training operations.
• Experience with AOG troubleshooting and fleet sustainment.
• Root cause analysis and corrective action experience.
• Experience providing technical training or train-the-trainer instruction.
