The traveler will be contracted to the ED unit, specifically to care for inpatient and CICU level holds in the ED. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience. ED experience is preferred but not required. Patients may present with a variety of diagnoses including chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, pneumonia, and more. The role may include caring for medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic patients as overflow. Experience with post-cardiac procedures such as catheterizations with stents is necessary. The nurse should be able to manage and titrate drips, including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine. The unit utilizes special equipment such as BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris Pumps, and Phillips Monitoring System. Traveler must float to similar units as needed and may assist with patient sitting. Patient ratios are typical for night shifts. A team nursing approach and helping hands are encouraged. Responsibilities may include administration of blood products and care of ventilated patients. Infection control practices and isolation precautions must be strictly followed. The nurse should have experience with telemetry and cardiac monitoring. Wound care management and experience with Rapid Response teams are valuable.
