Maintenance Mechanic

The maintenance mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and improves production equipment and facility systems to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency, and product quality. This role focuses on preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for manufacturing and packaging equipment, supporting reliable and safe operations across the facility.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment to maximize uptime and efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues on production and facility equipment.
• Troubleshoot conveyor systems, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and automated machinery to resolve performance and reliability problems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to identify faults and guide repairs or modifications.
• Conduct equipment inspections and document all maintenance activities in the maintenance management system accurately and on time.
• Support production teams by responding quickly to equipment issues, minimizing downtime, and improving overall equipment reliability.
• Participate in equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting on 3-phase systems, motors, and control components as needed.
• Use welding, fabrication, and mechanical repair techniques to restore or improve equipment and components.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety standards, and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper storage of tools, parts, and materials.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed, including unplanned breakdowns and critical equipment failures.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to share knowledge, support training, and drive best practices.

Essential Skills:

• Demonstrated experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and troubleshooting on production machinery.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and repair.
• Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including work with 3-phase power systems and motors.
• Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components.
• Experience with welding and basic fabrication for equipment repair and modification.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints accurately.
• Experience with maintenance repair activities on motors, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and related equipment.
• Preferred minimum of 25 years of relevant maintenance experience, depending on overall qualifications and skill set.
• Ability to perform troubleshooting on automated production equipment and machinery.
• Strong commitment to working safely and following established safety procedures and standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Preferred experience troubleshooting PLCs, including Allen-Bradley or similar platforms.
• Experience supporting production environments with a focus on uptime, efficiency, and product quality.
• Experience in fabrication to support equipment modifications and improvements.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems for documenting work orders and equipment history.
• Experience working under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards is beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with production, engineering, and other maintenance personnel.

Work Environment:

This role operates on a 1st shift AWS (Alternative Work Schedule) day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the possibility of initial training on a standard first shift. The position follows a 12-hour continental rotating schedule across the entire year, allowing you to work approximately half the year while maintaining full-time hours. The typical rotation is: Week 1 OFF, ON, ON, OFF, OFF, ON, ON; Week 2 ON, OFF, OFF, ON, ON, OFF, OFF. You work in a production and manufacturing environment that includes manufacturing and packaging equipment, conveyor systems, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and automated machinery. The role involves hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, as well as welding and fabrication tasks. You are expected to maintain a clean and organized work area and consistently follow safety regulations, GMPs, food safety standards, and company policies. The environment is fast-paced and equipment-intensive, requiring regular inspections, troubleshooting, and occasional response to emergency maintenance needs.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr. medical, dental, vision, 401k
