Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Infrastructure - Rocky Mountain Region Position Overview We are adding Project Engineers to our Central Division of Kiewit to support our expanding infrastructure portfolio. As a Project Engineer, you will manage the administrative and technical aspects of construction projects and lead a team of field and cost engineers. Location Lone Tree, CO and other Rocky Mountain locations as required. Responsibilities Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications. Examine and inspect field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost‑saving measures; take corrective actions. Inspect subordinates’ work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and take corrective actions as required. Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software. Manage document control; receive, log, and update new issue drawings and contract documents. Review new issue drawings and contract documents for changes of conditions; quantify impacts and review with supervisor. Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash‑flow projections. Recommend improvements to project operations, including methods, staffing, and procedures. Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects, providing supervision and training. Read and understand plans and specifications; visualize two‑dimensional drawings in three dimensions. Manage and support the project team, including direct reports. Support the company’s environmental health and safety programs at the project level. Qualifications BS degree in construction management, construction engineering, or related discipline plus a minimum of 5+ years of field and project engineering experience in self‑performed construction, with a focus on heavy civil works/infrastructure. If no degree, a minimum of 9+ years of experience is required. Minimum of 3+ years’ experience managing engineers with exposure to cost control and scheduling management. Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents. Highly motivated, with a passion for excellence and initiative. Flexibility to work at various locations and conditions. Base Compensation $110,000 - $142,000 (subject to variation based on education, experience, skill set, and location).
