Sr. Consumer Underwriter Houston, TX | Full-time | Financial Services / Consumer Lending Why Work With Us Use your expertise in consumer lending, HELOC underwriting, and home equity loan review in a meaningful role Collaborate with experienced lending, mortgage, and closing teams in a professional environment Grow your career as a trusted subject matter expert on complex loan applications and credit decisions What You’ll Do Review incoming consumer loan, home equity, and HELOC applications for creditworthiness Analyze debt-to-income ratios, credit reports, income documentation, loan-to-value ratios, and collateral details Make timely underwriting decisions within established lending guidelines and authority levels Review complex or disputed loan applications and assist with structuring challenging loan scenarios Guide lower-level underwriters and provide additional approval concurrence when needed Verify income documentation and identify potential fraud risks before loans enter the portfolio Review title commitments, appraisals, AVMs, and required mortgage loan documentation Validate loan data in Encompass, Loan Director, and related loan origination systems Manage direct and indirect consumer credit disputes through e-Oscar while following CFPB guidelines What We’re Looking For 5 years of consumer underwriting, lending, credit union, banking, or related financial services experience High school diploma or equivalent required Strong knowledge of personal credit reports, collateral types, and underwriting analysis Ability to calculate financial ratios and evaluate complex financial documentation Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Familiarity with Velocity and Fiserv DNA/Core System preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills High level of professionalism, confidentiality, trust, and diplomacy Ability to advise, educate, and support team members on sensitive lending matters Ready to Land Your Next Great Role?
