A procurement specialist manages the acquisition of goods, services, and raw materials required for a company's daily operations and strategic goals.

·         Supplier Sourcing: Research, identify, and evaluate potential vendors based on pricing, quality, reliability, and financial stability.

·         Contract Negotiation: Lead bidding processes (such as RFQs and RFPs) and negotiate favorable contract terms, pricing structures, and delivery schedules.

·         Order Management & Tracking: Issue purchase orders, monitor shipment tracking, and reconcile invoices and receipts (using tools like 3-way matching).

·         Quality & Compliance Control: Ensure purchased goods meet technical/engineering specifications and adhere to local, federal, or industry regulations.

·         Inventory & Risk Planning: Analyze material requirements planning (MRP) data to prevent stockouts, manage supply chain disruptions, and find backup vendors.

Requirements & Qualifications:

·         Education: Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, economics, finance, or engineering.

·         Skills: Strong analytical thinking, commercial negotiation, communication, and proficiency in ERP/procurement software (e.g., SAP, Deltek).

·         Certifications: Optional credentials include Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Professional Purchasing Manager (CPPM), or Certified Public Procurement Buyer (CPPB).
