Registered Nurse - Progressive CCU

About the Unit The Progressive Cardiac Care Unit at The Johns Hopkins Hospital is a 32‑bed unit comprising 20 telemetry and 12 ICU step‑down beds. It treats highly acute cardiac medicine patients with conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy, dysrhythmia, and heart failure. Patients receive primarily medical treatment, with frequent interventions in the Cardiac Cath & Electrophysiology lab, including stent placement, ablation, PPM/AICD implantation, or TAVR, and impella device support. Responsibilities Deliver advanced nursing care to cardiac patients, including medication administration and vasoactive drip titration. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using a full‑time “monitor watch” technician. Assist with invasive procedures such as Swann‑Ganz catheter and LVAD management. Perform phlebotomy, IV insertion, ACLS, and palliative care as needed. Shift & Schedule Full‑time, 36‑hour rotating shift schedule with self‑scheduling. Requirements Minimum of 1 year of recent RN PCCU experience (preferred). Associate’s degree required. Active BLS certification via AHA, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network at hire. Compensation is commensurate with equity and experience for similar scopes of responsibility.
