Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive physical therapy interventions, focusing on pain relief, functional improvement, and prevention of further disability following tailored treatment plans.
• Collaborate with physical therapy assistants to ensure that therapeutic practices align with established care plans, providing guidance and supervision as required.
• Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' functional abilities through diagnostic assessments to devise personalized treatment approaches.
• Assess the home environment and recommend modifications to enhance patient independence and accommodate specific rehabilitation needs.
• Deliver targeted physical therapy treatments, including manual exercises, modalities, and functional activities, fostering optimal recovery.
• Maintain accurate clinical records including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries for effective tracking of patient progress.
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care outcomes and share insights on therapy progress.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding therapy programs and the use of rehabilitation equipment.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and revision of individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare colleagues.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with orthopedic patients, including those recovering from surgeries, managing chronic pain, or rehabilitating from sports-related injuries. Your role will require a patient-centered approach, focusing on developing rapport and trust to encourage active participation in their recovery process. Exceptional interpersonal skills will be essential in engaging families and caregivers in therapy discussions, ensuring a holistic approach to care.

Qualifications

• A valid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program.
• A minimum of one year of experience in physical therapy, preferably in an outpatient or acute care setting.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in Virginia, maintaining all required certifications, including CPR.
• Strong commitment to clinical excellence, with a focus on quality and maintaining ethical standards in patient care.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and possess excellent communication skills.

Preferred Experience
