Job Description The VSL is responsible for all aspects regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost (SQDC) of the assigned production Value Stream(s). Value Stream (VS) is defined from receipt of materials through the shipment of goods to the customer. The VSL will closely interact with the Director – Operations/Manufacturing Manager, other Production & Technical Leaders, Project/Manufacturing Engineers, Program Managers, Customer Operations, and Quality teams in carrying out duties and responsibilities. Job Responsibilities Put Safety first at all times, never compromising on safety for the obtainment of other objectives. Responsible for the health and safety of themselves and coworkers. Interface with the Customer as needed. Develop strategies and budgets to achieve operational goals in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). Implement and champion Lean Manufacturing practices and drive continuous improvements in the areas of SQDC. Observe, support, and contribute to Company safety programs, policies & initiatives. Implement and continually monitor safe work practices in the Value Stream. Conduct required safety & environmental audits, 5S audits, JHA assessments, identify hazards, and ensure that all employees follow safe work practices. Utilize manpower, equipment, and material resources to meet or exceed the Value Stream's productivity goal (pieces per hour) and ensure that labor is flexed. Manage uptime, changeover, and standard work in adherence to cycle time. Ensure delivery targets are met 100 percent of the time while adhering to plant Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives. Develop and apply a consistent Visual Management system of KPIs and display those in the SQDC meeting area or whiteboard(s). Mentor and teach VS employees on the use and interpretation of KPIs. Implement 5S in the VS. Conduct regular Tier/employee meetings. Ensure that new product and process launches follow the required NPI process and are completed within the required timeline and budgeted resources. Learn, implement, and support efforts of operational documentation (FMEA, Control Plans, PPI, reports, internal audits, etc.). Ensure all Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities are identified and implemented throughout the VS. Develop and maintain employee training and development objectives and matrix. Eliminate single points of failure by cross‑training employees on all shifts and all processes. Develop and verify a risk‑mitigation plan (contingency) for all processes within the VS. Work with Engineering to develop a capacity model for the VS. Troubleshoot and facilitate the resolution of production problems related to SQDC, applying appropriate root‑cause analysis tools as needed. Be responsible for timely SAP transactions, MR closure, and minimizing open production orders. Ensure that Leader Standard Work is conducted and necessary actions are completed on a timely basis. Coordinate with Production Planning, Program Management, Customer Operations, and other departments as needed to execute customer requirements. Ensure availability of production supplies. Coordinate resource allocation with other Value Stream Leaders and ensure that all procedures are being followed and company policies are implemented. Monitor the time and attendance system (Kronos), ensure program charging in Kronos is completed accurately, and monitor hours charged versus forecast to react to significant deviations. Execute employee performance management consistent with Company policy. Coordinate with Human Resources to execute the staffing plan. Drive high levels of employee engagement through best‑practice utilization. Build employee talent levels and capabilities through hiring and training/development best practices, and address talent gaps proactively. Qualifications Knowledge of relevant manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment. Basic knowledge and understanding of Lean manufacturing practices. Exhibits a passion for operational and transactional process improvements. Developing analytical aptitude with proven problem‑solving abilities. Exhibits the following math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, and decimals. Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead a cross‑functional team. Basic proficiency with the MS Office suite. Must be highly organized, with good attention to detail, self‑motivated, and able to work independently. Planning and project organization – ability to plan over a 3–6 month time span involving multiple inputs from external and internal customers. Excellent communication, resourcefulness, and relationship‑building skills. Ability to work a 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations require. Education: BS in a technical curriculum highly preferred or a minimum 2‑year degree or high‑school graduate with relevant work experience. Experience may be substituted for education at management’s discretion if the candidate demonstrates the knowledge necessary to perform assigned duties. Lean and/or Six Sigma training from a recognized organization preferred. Relevant work experience: manufacturing supervision and planning experience preferred; strong leadership skills and willingness to learn required. Supervisory responsibility: Yes. Supervisors are responsible for overseeing their work group including formal evaluations/performance management, recruitment, and developing group cohesion. Shift: Day. Working conditions: indoor production environment, duties performed indoors with adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work a 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations require. Travel may be required. Physical requirements: occasionally position oneself to move an item greater than 10 lbs.; frequently move around the production floor and office area to attend meetings or training; must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75 percent of the time; frequently operates a computer, enters data into systems, verifies information, etc. Nothing in this document restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. #J-18808-Ljbffr Albany International Corp.
