PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Supervisor, Rail Testing plays a critical role in protecting the safety and reliability of CPKC’s rail network by operating advanced ultrasonic testing equipment to detect rail defects. By accurately assessing and reporting test results, this role drives timely rail replacement decisions that help prevent failures and ensure safe, uninterrupted train operations. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES Drive CPKC owned vehicle and rental cars to locations to perform daily testing Work as a team to ensure truck is fully staffed throughout the year Operate and maintain CPKC owned ultrasonic rail testing equipment on various segments on their assigned territory Calibrate and ensure equipment is up to standards to perform quality inspections Responsible for daily contact with the Roadmaster for collaborative ways to keep Rail Flaw Detection equipment on schedule and hit production targets Take track protection and abide by all safety rules to ensure everyone goes home safe Perform quality work ensure the safe passage of trains in compliance with the Red Book by issuing the appropriate protective slow orders Required to be on call on a regular basis outside of normal business hours and workdays Work 2 weeks ON and 1 week OFF schedule (travel required to get to work and back home) POSITION REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or GED Instrumentation and testing experience in other disciplines High proficiency in using a computer and troubleshooting ability Proficiency in using tools to make mechanical repairs to equipment Strong interpersonal communication skills WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension and/or retirement plans Employee share purchase plan Annual fitness subsidy PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required. Management Conductor Program Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
