Resident Advisor (RA) – Summer 2026, 2026-2027 Academic Year Kenai Peninsula College is hiring Resident Advisors (RAs) for summer 2026 and the 2026-2027 school year. This live‑in student position will support residence hall operations and offers an excellent opportunity to demonstrate and develop leadership, organizational skills, and problem‑solving. Responsibilities Respond to a variety of situations in a residence hall setting; serve as the first point of contact for residents in need of help and mediate difficult conversations. Learn and implement KPC safety protocols in emergencies and participate in an on‑call rotation with professional staff serving as backup. Collaborate with the Residence Hall Coordinator and other campus partners to build community by connecting with residents and planning events, serving as an approachable figure for residents from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Model and be knowledgeable of the KPC Community Living Standards and UAA/KPC Student Code of Conduct, document policy violations, and act as a Campus Security Authority. Complete Authorized Adult training as required. Work a desk or perform another administrative duty for a minimum of one hour each pay period. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Traits for Success Teachability, adaptability, and effective communication skills. Positive and professional interaction with students, staff, and faculty. Knowledge of campus resources and a positive attitude. Preference may be given to current and past student housing residents. Minimum Qualifications At least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in non‑traditional programs may be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer; proof of enrollment must be provided. Good disciplinary standing at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of employment. By the start date, the successful candidate must have applied for housing consistent with the employment period. For summer employment, an applicant must also have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the following semester. An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required. Position Details This position is located on the Kenai River campus in Soldotna. It is a part‑time, Student Assistant 1 position with a compensation of $10.97 per hour and a housing waiver. The university reserves the right to require employees to work on‑site at UA facilities. Hybrid and remote work may be approved for employees based in Alaska at the University's discretion; remote work for employees based outside the State may be approved only in exceptional circumstances or when required by the position's duties.
