Additionally, paraprofessionals must be qualified through one of the following options: Complete two years of study at an institution of higher education; or Obtain an associate's (or higher) degree (must provide supporting documents) Newly hired paraprofessionals who do not meet one of these requirements will be required to certify through the Parapro assessment as soon as possible after being hired: Meet a proficiency target of 455 on the Parapro standardized assessment. In addition to the options identified above, paraprofessionals may achieve local status by meeting a local proficiency score on the Parapro of 450. When completing new hire paperwork, paraprofessionals will receive direction on how to begin the process of scheduling their Parapro assessment.
