Job Purpose

The  Foster Love 1099 Events Contractor plays a key role in supporting and executing both small and large-scale events across the country. This position helps facilitate service-based events that positively impact foster youth and families. The contractor will work alongside event coordinators, leads, donors, and participants to ensure events run smoothly, from setup to clean-up, while maintaining a high level of participant engagement. This role is essential to helping Foster Love achieve its mission of improving the lives of foster youth nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Event Logistics & Preparation

Travel to and assist with events nationwide, often requiring travel the day before and returning the day after the event. Ensure timely arrival and departure, keeping track of flight and hotel accommodations. Monitor and update availability on the Foster Love Events calendar regularly. Ensure all receipts and expenses are tracked and submitted for reimbursement.

Event Execution

Assist with event setup: arranging tables, chairs, and stations for activities (assembly lines, decoration stations, quality check stations, etc.). Ensure smooth participant engagement during events, answering questions about Foster Love, the foster care system, and the service activities. Assist with activities such as skateboard builds, bike builds, STEM boxes, sweet cases, and birthday boxes. Maintain cleanliness throughout the event, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and efficient environment. Support event leads with assembly lines and quality check stations, ensuring all activities meet standards.

Post-Event Duties

Assist with event cleanup, including helping load service items into vehicles for delivery to local agencies. Upload photos, videos, and any content taken during the event to the event debrief form. Complete the event debrief form after each event, capturing key insights, photos, and feedback.

Skills and Qualifications

Within 30 minutes of a major airport. Ability to travel extensively, including flights and driving, to nationwide events. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a vehicle. Physical ability to be on your feet for up to 10 hours a day and lift up to 60 lbs. Familiarity with or willingness to learn about the foster care system. Strong communication skills to engage with donors, participants, and event leads. Flexibility and adaptability to work varying event hours and travel schedules. Event coordination experience and familiarity with event management tools (e.g., Asana) is a plus but not required. Ability to take direction from the event leads and work as part of a team. No specific certifications required, but event planning experience is beneficial.

Experience

No specific experience required, though prior event planning, logistics, or nonprofit experience is preferred. Must be able to manage travel, event set-up, and post-event logistics.

Location & Work Environment

This is a  nationwide role requiring travel to various locations across the country. Event staff are expected to travel the day before and the day after events, though longer or shorter trips may occur. Some events may take place on weekends or after normal business hours. All travel expenses, including flights, hotel, and some transportation, will be covered. A $45 per diem for food will be provided during travel and event days (excludes alcohol).

Compensation

• $200 per event as standard event staff.
• $250 per event for those in lead roles (additional responsibilities).
• $150 for travel days (not including transportation to/from home to airport).
• No overtime pay, bonuses, or tips.
