Junior Controller

The Junior Controller is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations, future planning, reporting, and analysis. The Junior Controller will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets and liabilities. Responsible for performing all accounting activities and analysis, budget administration, and cash management.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting Operations: Recording and reconciling all transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and payroll.
• Financial Reporting: Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, statement of cash flows
• Month-End/Year-End Close: Supporting the closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts and performing variance analysis to report findings to management.
• Compliance & Controls: Helping to implement and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), tax laws, and other regulatory requirements.
• Audit Support: Working with external auditors and tax advisors to prepare schedules and documentation for annual audits and tax returns.
• Process Improvement: Recommending and implementing process improvements for efficiency and scalability within the accounting function.
• Other Analysis: Performing various analyses, such as cost analysis, gross margin, to assist management in decision-making.

Qualifications and Skills

Successful candidates for a Junior Controller position typically possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Pursuing professional certifications like a CPA or CMA is often preferred and can enhance career prospects.
• Experience: 3-6 years of hands-on accounting or related experience is required.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP), and advanced Excel skills are essential. Experience in use of an ERP is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are highly valued
