Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Neurology

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Expected 4–5 weekend shifts per 4-week period with holiday rotation

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a General Neurology, Medical Stroke, and Epilepsy Monitoring unit
• Manage patients with diagnoses including Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, and medically managed strokes
• Support continuous epilepsy monitoring for patients in designated hard-wired monitoring rooms
• Care for overflow neurosurgical and spine surgery patients as needed in support of sister units
• Float within scope to meet facility needs across like units as required
• During hurricane season (June–November), contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Active South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required ; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered with proof of application or ability to complete the SC walk-through process — clearance to work will not be granted until SC license is active
• BLS certification required
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates may be considered on a secondary basis
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at this facility system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Experience with epilepsy monitoring or neurology patient populations
