Audio Visual (AV) TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking an experienced Audio Visual (AV) Technician to support the installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of commercial AV systems for enterprise and business customers. This role requires hands-on experience with AV technologies, structured cabling, and conferencing solutions in professional client environments.

The ideal candidate will have experience installing and configuring AV equipment such as cameras, microphones, displays, and conferencing systems, along with a strong understanding of low-voltage cabling and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test commercial AV systems, including:

• Cameras

• Microphones

• Conference room equipment

• Flat-panel displays and TVs

• Video conferencing solutions

• Build, install, and organize AV racks and related equipment.

• Work with platforms such as:

• Cisco Room Kits

• Extron

• Crestron

• Biamp

• Complete AV system testing and troubleshooting to ensure full functionality before project completion.

• Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling and connectivity infrastructure.

• Perform punch-down terminations using 66 and 110 blocks.

• Terminate jacks and complete work within telecommunications closets.

• Ensure all cabling is neatly routed, properly secured, and concealed whenever possible.

• Interpret project documentation and follow installation standards.

• Work directly with customers in professional office and conference room environments.

• Collaborate with project teams and Intellicom staff to complete installations on schedule.

• Utilize a personal laptop for system configurations and remote support sessions as required.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on Audio Visual or low voltage installation experience.

• Experience installing and configuring commercial AV systems.

• Familiarity with Cisco Room Kits, Extron, Crestron, Biamp, or similar AV technologies.

• Knowledge of low-voltage wiring practices and NEC requirements.

• Experience with:

• Rack installation and organization

• AV equipment mounting

• Cable termination and testing

• Punch-downs and structured cabling

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with clients.

• Must have a personal credit card for approved business expenses. Reimbursable expenses will be paid according to company policy.

• Must have a personal laptop available for equipment configuration and remote support activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
