Maintenance Mechanic
The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive and corrective maintenance on automated machinery that manipulates carbon steel tubing in an industrial environment. This role focuses on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to keep production equipment operating safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Mechanic diagnoses issues, completes repairs, and documents all work while following manufacturer guidelines, safety rules, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated machinery that manipulates carbon steel tubing.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair industrial equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and repair, replace, adjust, and align components of machinery and equipment.
- Study and interpret manufacturer manuals, mechanical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to set up and operate newly acquired machinery correctly.
- Record all maintenance and repair services performed in a clear and accurate manner.
- Cut and weld metal pieces to fabricate new parts, assemble equipment, or repair broken components as needed.
- Use rigging techniques and operate overhead cranes and lifting devices safely, including performing inspections and calculating loads.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and apply them consistently.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical problems without direct supervision and implement effective repairs.
- Use hand tools, power tools, pullers, and jacks to perform maintenance tasks and equipment repairs.
- Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working on energized and non-energized equipment.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience in an industrial setting performing maintenance on machinery or industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience with preventive and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including 3-phase motors.
- Strong hydraulics and pneumatics experience, including hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and understanding of automated control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, mechanical blueprints, and manufacturer manuals.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs without direct supervision.
- Proficiency in welding and fabricating metal components for equipment repair and part fabrication.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, pullers, and jacks safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
