Sr Data Scientist

Amgen seeks a Senior Data Scientist to design and deploy AI-enabled applications, data products, and automation solutions across pharmaceutical operations. The role combines machine learning expertise with full-stack development, integrating data from clinical, manufacturing, and supply chain systems in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-enabled applications, dashboards, and automation solutions using Python, SQL, and cloud technologies
- Build generative AI solutions that automate document generation, information extraction, and decision support workflows
- Develop data pipelines, APIs, and backend services integrating clinical, manufacturing, quality, and operational systems
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and user-facing applications
- Establish best practices for software development, AI governance, testing, and compliance in a regulated pharmaceutical setting
Requirements
- Doctorate in relevant field, or Master's degree with 2+ years data science experience, or Bachelor's with 4+ years experience
- Strong Python proficiency for application development, automation, and AI solutions
- Advanced SQL skills including complex queries, data modeling, and optimization
- Experience building generative AI applications using LLMs, RAG, or prompt engineering
- Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Databricks) and modern data architectures
- Experience designing APIs, ETL pipelines, and system integrations
- Background in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred
