X-Ray Technologist III - TGH Imaging Carrollwood

Overview Under the direction of a Radiologist, Facility Manager, or Supervisor, performs radiographic procedures (general & DEXA, fluoroscopy) according to protocols established for various age groups. Requires judgment and initiative for ionizing radiation application. Float X-ray technologist with ability or training in CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine or MRI. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Verifies that the prescription matches the procedure, records all reasons for the exam. Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation. Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices for optimum views. Moves x-ray and DEXA equipment, adjusts controls to set exposure factors. Processes radiologic digital images, examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability. Verifies that the patient’s exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS, makes billing code changes as needed. Ensures prior studies are presented with current studies to radiologist. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure. Stocks/Orders supplies, checks machine, performs equipment QC. Performs any additional duties assigned daily. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent. Current and valid Florida State License (CRT). Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association (CPR). Graduate of a 2‑year radiologic technology program from an accredited school. Certification/License American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry. Experience Knowledge & skill performing X‑ray, DEXA, Fluoroscopy procedures and protocols; eligible for or training in CT, MRI, Mammography or Nuclear Medicine. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary for x‑ray testing, body mechanics, patient movement. Knowledge of radiology equipment, safety hazards. Knowledge of customer service concepts, clinic policies, safety, privacy, HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of safety requirements for staff, patients, visitors. Skill using computer network system to process patient and department information. Skill in performing quality exams, positioning patients, exercising compassion. Skill in completing job functions timely. Ability to communicate clearly in person and phone to maintain relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co‑workers, and management.
