Paralegal/ Legal Assistant

Paralegal/ Legal Assistant – Litigation & Business Sherman Sherman Johnnie & Hoyt, LLP is seeking an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Paralegal to support our Litigation and General Business practice groups. This position works closely with attorneys and clients on a wide variety of matters, including civil litigation, business transactions, contract preparation, dispute resolution, real estate matters, and general corporate support. The ideal candidate enjoys managing multiple priorities, building strong client relationships, and contributing to a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities Provide legal and administrative support to attorneys and collaborate with other legal professionals. Draft, review, and format pleadings, correspondence, contracts, discovery, and other legal documents. Prepare court filings and assist with e‑filing in state and federal courts. Manage case files, deadlines, calendars, and task lists to ensure matters progress efficiently. Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, vendors, and third parties. Assist with discovery, document collection, organization, and production. Assist attorneys with hearings, mediations, depositions, trials, closings, and other client matters. Maintain accurate records and support attorneys in delivering exceptional client service. Qualifications Experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary. Prior experience in litigation, business law, real estate, creditor rights, or related practice areas preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time-management abilities. Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software. Professional judgment, initiative, and a strong commitment to client service. Paralegal certificate, degree, or equivalent experience is a plus. Candidates must reside in the Salem area or be able to work full‑time from our Salem office. Why Join SSJH?
