Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist with a contract position in a supportive school environment. This full-time, onsite opportunity runs from early August 2026 through late May 2027, providing essential support to individuals with visual impairments. You'll play a vital role in fostering independence and confidence, working closely with students, staff, and families to ensure every child can navigate their world safely and successfully.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
• Experience working with students in a school-based setting preferred
• Strong understanding of assessments, adaptive devices, and instructional methods for individuals with visual impairments
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
• Ability to develop and implement individualized orientation and mobility plans
• Willingness to work onsite and adapt to changing caseload needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess student mobility and orientation needs with evidence-based techniques
• Design and deliver individualized instruction in both indoor and outdoor school and community settings
• Train students in safe, effective travel skills, including use of adaptive technology as needed
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service staff to support overall student progress and IEP goals
• Maintain accurate service records and contribute to IEP meetings, providing recommendations and progress updates
• Participate in ongoing professional development and school activities as required
