Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (1800–0630) | Onsite | Full-Time | 12-Hour Shifts | May require up to 2 additional shifts per 6-week period | Weekend commitment typically 2 weekends (Saturday & Sunday) per month | Holiday requirement: 1 major & 1 minor

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a 10-bed ICU setting with a 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including open heart post-op, CHF, COPD, overdose, sepsis, CVAs with TPA, DKA, and stroke (TeleStroke program)
  • Care for adult patients and pediatric patients under the age of 8 admitted to the ICU, including those requiring ICU-level care
  • Operate and monitor advanced cardiac and renal support devices including IABP, Impella, and CRRT
  • Provide post-operative care for Day 2/Day 3 CABG patients
  • Float to PCU and Med Surg units as needed based on census; travelers are first to float
  • Adhere to unit scheduling expectations including weekend shifts, holiday coverage, and punctuality requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, including cardiac experience
  • Experience with IABP, Impella, CRRT, and Day 2/Day 3 post-op CABG care
  • Active BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Active Nebraska RN license or valid compact RN license in good standing
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health records
  • Willingness and ability to float to PCU and Med Surg as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Pediatric nursing experience (highly preferred given patient population requirements)
  • Experience with neurological patient populations and stroke care protocols
