Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

IU Health is now offering charge pay, which is a * bill rate bump per hour MUST BE FLEXIBLE WITH WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS, WEEKEND REQUIREMENT WILL BE BASED ON UNIT NEEDS. TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT. IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment. Please only submit candidates that are okay with these requirements. Traveler must have IN/Compact license in hand or have submitted their fingerprint application package for their license to apply for this position. Local travelers with permanent residence in Indiana, will be offered * below the current bill rate. Shift Requirements: 4x12 or 3x12 *** Call-Ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to 1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. OR 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract 3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract *** Charge coverage: Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. Certification Requirements: BCLS; NIH and ONS Preferred Skillset Requirements: Minimum 2 Years Experience, Med Surg Experience, Starting IVs, and CVA Skillset Preferences: Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Pre/Post Neuro Surgery, Chemotherapy Administration, and Monitoring Chemotherapy Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals Staffing Ratios: Dayshift from 1:5-6 Unit Information: **High acuity MS ~45% Heart & Lung Transplants - new and rejection, ~35% Heme/Onc, ~10% others - gen. surgery, trauma/plastics, med. overflow • Nearly all patients will be on some sort of hazardous drug. Many patients are on or have recently received anti-neoplastics. o Only 7N staff nurses with ONS competency certificate will hang/administer chemo-it may be necessary that a contract/agency RN be primary for the patient and coordinate chemo with the charge nurse. • Nearly all patients are immunosuppressed and infection prevention is a priority. • Transplant and polypharmacy are partners-requires high level of organization and attention to detail.
