SUMMARY
The Nurse Manager plans and organizes nursing care for residents of Brethren Retirement Community. This role directly and indirectly supervises the Nursing Department staff. Major functions include providing leadership to meet program goals, managing smooth transitions of elders moving in and out of the facility, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Note: Other duties may be assigned
• Direct daily operations of the neighborhood, including reviewing 24-hour care provided to elders.
• Provide leadership and support for the resident-centered care model.
• Ensure quality of care by auditing skin issues, falls, restraints, care plans, infection control, and more. Maintain reports and present findings to the Quality Assurance Process Improvement Committee.
• Utilize reports in PCC or other electronic medical record systems; teach and monitor licensed nurses in software use.
• Make regular rounds to visit acutely or terminally ill residents, newly admitted or transferred residents, and assist Charge Nurses in assessing resident needs.
• Assist with Assisted Living Waiver programs, including all reviews.
• Initiate, direct, and supervise staff in delivering Restorative Nursing Programs.
• Support licensed nursing staff in meeting resident needs, including emergencies, admissions, discharges, and daily care.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, standards of practice, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of Ohio Department of Health laws and regulations; serve as a key contact during ODH surveys.
• Assist with admission, placement, and transfer of residents to appropriate care levels.
• Resolve problems referred by Charge Nurses when unresolved at lower levels.
• Serve as liaison and multidisciplinary team member among staff, administration, residents, families, physicians, and community members to maintain good rapport and public relations.
• Participate in various committees as assigned.
• Assist with Medicare A determinations and other insurance coverage.
• Recommend purchase of special supplies or equipment within budget constraints.
• Actively participate in Nurse Manager on-call rotation.
• Assist with other duties as necessary for smooth operations.
• Maintain a qualified and efficient Nursing Staff by: o Making daily contact with floor staff, observing techniques and services to ensure quality adherence. o Coordinating orientation of new nursing staff and recommending educational needs for current staff. o Coaching, teaching, mentoring, and counseling nursing staff. o Reviewing and recommending revisions of policies and procedures. o Participating in staffing assessments, recruitment, hiring, and scheduling within budget constraints. o Evaluating nursing staff performance. o Engaging in long-range planning, projects, and committees to improve resident care and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Enhance professional and personal growth by: o Attending educational programs, in-services, and meetings. o Preparing and presenting in-services and educational programs to staff. o Pursuing advanced certifications or college courses. o Overseeing assigned operations to maintain privacy and security practices and taking corrective action if breaches occur. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises Nursing Staff. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, performance appraisal, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems according to organizational policies and laws. QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed nurse in the State of Ohio. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and at least one year experience as a competent nurse practitioner in a supervisory management role. Basic computer skills required. LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Ability to write speeches and articles in prescribed style. Able to effectively present information to management, public groups, and boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Basic algebra and geometry concepts apply. REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and manage concrete variables where limited standards exist. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
