26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) - Asian American Studies

Position Overview The Asian American Studies Program in the Department of Anthropology offers a minor and a new major (starting 2026-27) focusing on history and contemporary experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The program seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses or other classes to meet the educational goals of current students. Instructor Responsibilities Preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams. Ensure classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester, in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid). Adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Compensation Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement. Middle-of-range Master's salary: $5,507-6,677 per month (full‑time 15 WTUs). Starting salaries typically near minimum; actual monthly salary adjusted based on WTUs per term. Anticipated Semester Fall 2026: Aug 19, 2026 – Dec 22, 2026 Spring 2027: Jan 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027 Temporary faculty pool is open continuously and positions filled as needed (student enrollment and funding). The pool remains for two academic terms; subsequent participation requires reapplication. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Ethnic Studies or closely related field with emphasis in Asian American Studies. Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Experience Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred. Evidence of teaching excellence (evaluations, portfolios, etc.) would be advantageous. Preferred Qualifications Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, exhibited through prior teaching experiences and evaluations.
