The Role:

As a Middle School Science Teacher, you will provide engaging and rigorous instruction that supports student growth in scientific knowledge and skills. You will create a classroom environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving while meeting the diverse needs of all learners.

You will plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to district curriculum, assess student progress, and adjust instruction based on data. This role requires strong classroom management, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous professional growth.

Competencies for this Position:

• Holds appropriate Michigan teaching certification (DI endorsement preferred)
• Demonstrates the ability to plan and deliver effective, standards-based science instruction
• Creates a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to learning
• Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of students
• Uses a variety of instructional strategies and technology to enhance student learning
• Develops and implements lesson plans aligned with curriculum goals and objectives
• Maintains accurate, complete, and current student records and reports
• Uses assessment data to inform and adjust instructional practices
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Maintains classroom management and student discipline in a fair and consistent manner
• Ensures the safety, health, and well-being of students under supervision
• Prepares instructional materials and plans for substitute teachers as needed
• Collaborates with colleagues, specialists, and administration to support student success
• Supports students with learning disabilities and utilizes available district resources
• Participates in staff meetings, committees, and professional development
• Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement
• Supports and implements district philosophy, policies, and instructional goals
• Maintains flexibility and responsiveness to student and district needs
• Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and strong organizational skills
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal

Location: Berrien Springs Middle School

Start Date: August 17, 2026 with additional new staff meetings tbd

Salary: $47,877 - $ 88,689 based on experience
