Overview Health System Pharmacy facilitates the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of pharmacy operations for Cardinal Health. It serves acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices, and retail customers. The unit provides customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality, and offers consultation to healthcare teams on medications, supplies, and related processes. Job Summary Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at AMG Specialty Hospital – Clear Lake and seeks a Pharmacy Manager. The role executes clinical and administrative activities to optimize procedures, control costs, minimize waste, and improve patient outcomes while maintaining regulatory compliance. Primary hours are Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; occasional weekends and holidays are 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The Manager oversees inventory control, staffing, performance monitoring, and department budgeting. Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate clinical activities delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including supervision of refill machines, database entries, and medication dispatch. Plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate administrative activities delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, such as scheduling technician tasks, monitoring process compliance, and monthly reporting. Implement procedures to comply with regulations for medication handling, reception, storage, inventory, and expense controls. Manage day‑to‑day activities of pharmacy technicians and monitor their performance to meet departmental goals. Communicate with nursing, doctors, and administrative staff to provide alternatives when medicines are unavailable, and supervise preparation of interventional drugs. Maintain pharmacist’s certifications and database privileges for medical records. Provide pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist. Meet pharmacy inventory needs, place necessary orders, review supply levels, and procure alternative drugs to mitigate risks. Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management of pharmacy staff, including competency evaluations and documentation. Optimize staffing and scheduling to maintain best‑in‑class operations. Participate in meetings and provide insight to hospital committees to coordinate cross‑functional groups. Assist in executing plans to lower costs, increase efficiency, and drive profitable growth aligned with strategic objectives. Assume responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completion of end‑of‑month reports. Prepare for potential vendor credentialing and maintain eligibility for licensure in Texas. Qualifications Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in Texas or eligible to obtain licensure. Minimum of 2 years in hospital pharmacy and preferably in hospital pharmacy management. IV certification required. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and lead all aspects of pharmacy operations. Excellent communication skills—verbal and written—to interact with customers and healthcare professionals. Strong planning, organization, and leadership skills. Customer orientation, negotiation skills, and the ability to perform under emergency pressure. Decision‑making authority and willingness to work on call or participate in an on‑call rotation. Expectations Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of operations staff. Apply policies and procedures consistently. Maintain operational standards and influence customer outcomes. Communicate effectively with subordinates, customers, and peers across management levels. Resolve basic issues through information exchange. Salary Anticipated salary range: $111,500 – $175,340 (annual).
