The pay for this position is $1710.36 - $1881.39 per credit hour for lecture/lab classes and $1213.06 - $1333.41 per credit hour for non-lab lecture classes

Job Summary:

The Biological, Earth, and Environmental Sciences department at RRCC is seeking a Part-time Instructor to teach Biology courses. While the primary need is for in-person classes, online sections may also be available.

This position delivers instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online learning environments and is responsible for developing and delivering curriculum aligned with course learning outcomes, assessing student performance, maintaining accurate academic records, and utilizing instructional technologies, including Desire2Learn (D2L), to support teaching and learning.

The instructor creates an engaging, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that reflects RRCC's commitment to Inclusive Excellence and promotes the success of a diverse student population. Responsibilities include preparing course materials and syllabi, providing timely feedback and communication, monitoring attendance and academic progress, maintaining compliance with grading and recordkeeping requirements, and participating in department meetings, assessment activities, and other instructional initiatives.

The instructor maintains current knowledge of the discipline and effective teaching practices while demonstrating professionalism, collaboration, and a commitment to student achievement and continuous improvement. This position may teach day, evening, and/or online courses at either or both of our campuses and may include varying schedules depending on department needs. Hours outside of a normal work schedule may be required.

Reporting to the Department Chair, instructors perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in their respective areas of expertise at the College in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System and Red Rocks Community College. In compliance with CCCS employment requirements, finalists must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, even if teaching online courses.

Competencies/KSAs:

• Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and standard office software.
• Ability to follow approved curriculum, student learning outcomes, and college policies and procedures.
• Experience creating lesson plans, activities, and assessments that lead students to successfully attain course competencies and learning outcomes.
• Flexibility to teach daytime, evening, weekend, hybrid, laboratory, classroom, and online courses as assigned.
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet program needs, course objectives, and varying student learning needs.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from a fully accredited institution in a field or subfield closely related to the course(s) taught; or a Master’s degree in another field plus at least 18 graduate credit hours in a field or subfield closely related to the course(s) taught.

 

• Refer to Appendix A of RRPR 3-291, Faculty Instructor Qualifications Procedure, for the instructor qualifications required for each course

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 15 credit hours of teaching experience in higher education.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.
• Proficiency in curriculum development and instruction.
  Experience teaching in a community college and an understanding of the role, philosophy, and mission of community colleges.
