HVAC MechanicCompensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range shown on the announcement reflects the starting salary range for the assigned pay grade. Progression beyond the posted range occurs in accordance with established compensation policies. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training, and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations.Nature Of WorkThis is skilled mechanical work in installing, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems in City of Montgomery facilities. Employees in this class are responsible for laying out work details, assigning duties and inspecting the work of HVAC Mechanic Is. In addition to supervising, the incumbent performs mechanical tasks. Assignments are made by written or oral instructions. Daily supervision is received from the Mechanical Trades Supervisor. On large projects, supervision may be received on the job site by a HVAC Mechanic III.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC systems. Must have possession of an EPA 608 Type I and II certification. NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.Special RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays and be on call 24 hours as needed.Kind Of ExaminationApplications are being accepted to fill a vacancy and any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.
