About the Role
We are hiring a Machine Shop Manager to lead an internal R&D machining and prototyping operation. This role supports engineering teams building advanced hardware.
You will ensure high-quality parts are produced quickly, with a target turnaround of about 48 hours. You will also remove bottlenecks so engineers can focus on design.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, prototype-driven environment.
What You Will Do
Shop Operations
- Oversee daily machine shop workflow and job prioritization
- Manage intake and tracking of requests through a ticketing system
- Ensure fast turnaround on prototype parts
- Optimize shop throughput and reduce delays
Team Leadership
- Manage machinists, CAM programmers, and technicians
- Provide technical mentorship and troubleshooting support
- Build a collaborative environment with engineering teams
Technical Oversight
- Review drawings and models before machining
- Guide CNC programming strategies and setups
- Support complex machining and fabrication challenges
Inventory and Materials
- Maintain stock of raw materials and standard hardware
- Own procurement of tooling, supplies, and equipment
- Implement structured inventory systems such as Kanban
Equipment Management
- Oversee preventative maintenance for machines
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Ensure all equipment is running efficiently
Quality and Safety
- Implement quality control processes for all parts
- Enforce shop safety standards and compliance requirements
- Ensure designs are manufacturable before production
What We Are Looking For
- 7+ years of CNC machining or precision manufacturing experience
- 3+ years of leadership or shop management experience
- Strong background in CNC milling and turning
- Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam or Fusion 360
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience in prototyping, R&D, aerospace, or robotics environments preferred

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
